CBD Oil for Depression

Previously we shared Brenden’s motivating story of strength and determination. A couple that were on the brink of succumbing to their ailments decided to try one last thing and take matters into their own hands. Using SelfDecode helped them fulfill their true potential.

It’s stories like these that fuel the growth of SelfDecode and allow us to shape it in a way that helps everyone.

Since SelfDecode launched 5 years ago, it’s grown to be an all-inclusive platform so that everyone can use SelfDecode for anything. Sure, you can use it to effectively tackle a health issue like Brenden did, but you can also use it for things like optimizing your workout routine so that it’s perfect for your body, or finding out that you’re susceptible to a hereditary issue.

And that’s exactly what our valued member, Julie, did on her SelfDecode journey.

Mother & Daughter: A Hereditary Condition Solved

Julie started suffering from irritability and mood swings when she was 13 years old, but her genetic breakthrough didn’t happen for another 23 years. She would feel angry, mad, depressed, and anxious very frequently.

Her mood swings magnified in her mid 20s, as stress was building up from Nursing School and her father had just passed away from cancer. She went to her medical doctor and was diagnosed with depression and given antidepressants to help.

Years later, when her daughter turned 13, she came up to her and said “Mom, I think I need to talk to someone about medicine… I feel so mad and angry ALL the time!”

That sentence alone changed both Julie and her daughter’s life. The fact that her daughter was sharing the exact same feelings that she had 20 years ago led her to start researching genetics and getting both their genomes sequenced.

After downloading their Mood DNA Report, they noticed that they both carried plenty of negative variants that affected emotional balance, including the PTPRD gene.

The PTPRD gene is involved in promoting the development of new neurons (neurogenesis) and guiding them to create connections with other brain cells. The negative variant decreased neurogenesis, causing all those mood swings and irritability issues to occur.

After implementing their personalized recommendations, they both saw tremendous results. For example, they both needed to increase consumption of polyphenols and time spent in the sun to boost their PTPRD gene, while 5-HTP was a game changer for Julie and her daughter greatly benefited from a methylfolate B12 complex vitamin!

In fact, the recommendations helped so much that Julie stopped her antidepressants and her daughter never started! What she thought was an individual issue ended up being a hereditary problem.

As a Psych Nurse, Julie now uses her knowledge on genetics to educate her patients and help them optimize their health! She advocates for them to get their genes tested so that they can optimize their health too, and uses her results as proof that gene-based health works!

Make Your Own Discoveries

If Julie didn’t interpret that their mood issues were genetic, she may have never been able to naturally solve her or her daughter’s mood swings. She used SelfDecode to help her understand the hereditary problems, and broke a chain that may have been passed down for generations in her family.

That’s the hidden power that your DNA holds.

By understanding your genes, you can make so many discoveries about yourself that you would’ve never found out otherwise. Discoveries that can help you unlock your true potential and reach your lifelong goals.
