Heart Health, The Biggest Loser & What No One Saw Coming

Written by Joe Cohen, BS | Last updated:

“I woke up in the hospital in complete shock.”

Bob Harper, host of the Biggest Loser and celebrity fitness expert, was going through his normal gym routine when he collapsed on the floor.

In an amazing stroke of luck, doctors were around to assist him before the ambulance arrived.

Being the picture of good health, he got a lot of questions following the incident. How could that happen to someone in such amazing shape?

Harper found out that he had a high genetic risk for heart disease. “You can’t just think, ‘I am not someone that looks like they would have a heart attack,’” Harper says. “The more you know your health, the better for yourself.”

Since the incident, Harper’s made changes. He switched from a high-protein Paleo diet to a plant-based diet. He also stopped his high-intensity workouts and substituted in other exercises like yoga.

“These are the cards that are dealt and you do the best you can to manage any condition you have,” says Harper. “I could have prevented it—but I can’t live my life thinking, shoulda, coulda, woulda.”

The good news is you can find out if you’re genetically predisposed to heart issues. Bob didn’t know about his genetic risk until it was too late – luckily, he lived to tell the tale. Most don’t.

And once you know your genetic risks, you’ll be able to know what specific changes to make to help reduce your chances of experiencing heart problems.

Genetic predisposition to heart health issues

Now, you can adopt a personalized gene-based approach to your health, and create a comprehensive health plan on your own terms.

SelfDecode is the only company that gives recommendations that change based on your genetics. How do you know? Because you can look for yourself and see that we give you the specific gene and references that resulted in the recommendation being higher up on the list. No other company does this – because it’s not easy to do and very expensive to create. Instead, they just spend their money on marketing, betting that consumers won’t notice the difference.

But I’m not willing to create anything that isn’t the best on the market. So I make sure every report or product that we release is going to have the biggest impact possible.

Understand your risks and make the changes you need. It may be the difference between life and death.

If you’d like to be one of the first to check out the new heart health report…
